Third Evacuation Flight from Iran Reaches Delhi with Over 256 Indians
Amid rising tensions in Iran, the third evacuation flight carrying 256 Indians, predominantly students from the Kashmir Valley, touched down in Delhi on Saturday evening. The operation was part of a larger effort to bring back nearly 1,000 nationals stranded in the conflict-ridden region.
Passengers recounted harrowing experiences, with many describing missile attacks and a tense atmosphere. A woman, clutching her baby, spoke of the relief she felt upon landing. "The situation was dire. We witnessed missile strikes, and it was terrifying," she told reporters outside the airport terminal.
The Jammu and Kashmir Students' Association acknowledged the fear and uncertainty the evacuees faced. They extended their gratitude to the Union government for swiftly coordinating the rescue with Iranian authorities.
Among the passengers were tourists and business travellers who also expressed relief at escaping the conflict zone.
Two more evacuation flights are scheduled, including one from Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, expected to arrive early Sunday morning. Families across India await their loved ones’ safe return as the government continues its mission to bring everyone home.
